I am on a plane.
The plane has begun its descent into Berlin, Germany. I sit here in the back row, on the cusp of a 3 month journey across Europe, filled with many thoughts. It’s all over now; I have served my time in the military. I have my freedom. What was I going to do with it?
I sincerely hope to get back to living the life I once did, with greater zest and fervour than before. The world is out there and I plan to see it.
I must confess that I bear mixed feelings about the next steps in my life. I have grown quite comfortable with sedentary life, quite content with not doing anything. Chasing dreams seems harder than before. I see myself missing my friends, missing the familiarity of company.
I embark on this journey feeling quite alone in the world. I know there will be amazing highs but also unpleasant lows. I will take each emotion as it is.
As I step out of the plane and take in the chilly air of this foreign country my purpose becomes clear. The unfamiliarity and uncertainty ahead ceases to scare me. I am liberated; the unknown is part of the adventure.
This first post serves as a prelude to the novel which is my life. Read about the places I visit and the people I connect with and sometimes, if you are lucky, the inner workings of my mind. Join me as I travel the world, making memories.
