Visiting a museum is my favourite thing to do on a rainy day and the Rijksmuseum is definitely one of my favourite museums in Amsterdam. A day at the Rijksmuseum is like taking a walk through time. The museum is divided into different sections based on the time period. The museum is easy to navigate thanks to the simple layout and detailed floor plan available to patrons.

Planning your trip:

The Rijksmuseum is located at Museumstraat 1, 1071 XX Amsterdam. The museum is centrally located and easily accessible by the tram and metro. You can also bike there if the weather is favourable. I would advise you to set aside at least half a day for the museum as there is truly so much to see.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic tickets have to be reserved online. An adult ticket is priced at €19 while admission is free for children aged 18 and under. As a student on a budget, it seemed a little expensive to me but in hindsight, it was definitely money well spent. Be sure to wear your mask at all times in the museum.

If you are looking for a cute date idea I would consider a visit to the Rijksmuseum. Just look at how much fun Anna and I are having. You definitely have to check it out for yourself. It is the perfect place if you are interested in art and history. I had an amazing time at the museum.

Rijksmuseum Gardens

Hopefully the rain has stopped by the time you finish exploring the museum. You can head to the Rijksmuseum Gardens, located right outside the museum. It is a great spot to relax and rest your legs after walking around all day. I find it calming to be surrounded by nature at the end of the day. It is the perfect way to wind down and end your visit to the Rijksmuseum.
